Badlands
Badlands is a Half-Life 2 level that I made as a student project The Guildhall. This level was designed to fit into the middle of a three part series. In the first part the player takes part in a raid against a combine base which caused a swarm of head crabs to be released.
In Badlands the player is moving through Combine occupied territory trying to get back to Liberty Station, the local resistance stronghold. Unfortunately the new swarm of head-crab zombies is making this journey even more dangerous than it would normally be.
The level features several environmental puzzles, where the player can “sick the zombies” on the combine soldiers. I also made a combat section, and puzzle, out of the crane. Because let’s face it, the crane was one of the coolest and most under-used elements in Half-Life 2.
